Sharing Your Story
A Guide for Charities
Share your story: how philanthropy has strengthened your charity and community
This website celebrates the stories behind philanthropy in the UK, showing how generous giving can strengthen charities, communities and the causes they serve.
We are inviting charities that have benefited from philanthropic support to share their experiences.
Whether funding has helped you grow your services, reach more people, build resilience, develop new ideas or create lasting change, we want to hear your story.
This guide explains what information the submission form asks for and offers guidance on how to make your story as compelling and impactful as possible.

Your story: what we're looking for
We want to show, in clear and tangible ways, how philanthropic giving has supported your charity and the people you serve. The strongest stories take the reader on a journey, from the challenge you faced through the support you received to the difference it helped create. They bring this to life through real examples, personal experiences and, where possible, evidence and measurable impact.
-
Not every story will follow this pattern exactly but it may help as a starting point:
The challenge: the problem, gap or opportunity your charity was facing
The support: who gave, in what form, and how the relationship began
The difference it made: what changed as a result, in outcomes your charity or its beneficiaries would recognise
What's next: how this support continues to shape your work
-
What specific challenge or opportunity did your charity face before this support?
How did you connect with this donor, and what form did their support take (funding, time, expertise, connections)?
What has the giving enabled that would not otherwise have been possible?
What difference can you point to, in numbers, outcomes or change you have observed?
What did you learn from working with a philanthropic donor?
What does this mean for your charity's future?
Did the donor give you the confidence, flexibility or freedom to try something new? If so, how did that affect the outcome?
-
Please include two photographs that help bring your story to life. Where possible, choose images that show the people, places or activities involved rather than logos or generic stock imagery.
For each photograph, please tell us who took it and confirm that you have permission to share it and for it to be used on this website.

Published stories can be a maximum of 800 words. Please ensure that your story fits within this overall word limit.
What happens next
We review every submission and verify the charity's registration before publishing. If we are unable to take a story forward, we will let you know.
